Choosing the Right Bootcamp

Anyone interested in signing up for a new fitness class will need to look up the different bootcamps in their area.  Bootcamps are a fast and effective way to get fit. Here are some of the things to consider when choosing the right bootcamp.

The first factor that will play a role in the choice a bootcamper makes is the total cost. Indoor camps are often priced equally to most outdoor camps.

Another factor that must be considered when making the choice between bootcamps is climate.  If the area is quite rainy, this could mean classes get cancelled more often. Outdoor bootcamps rarely have the opportunity to make it inside when they have bad weather. That being said, an indoor bootcamp has the ability of taking field trips to local parks on a nice days.

Another consideration when taking into account which bootcamp to join is the equipment choices that will be available. Indoor bootcamps typically have a greater selection of weights, kettlebells, and resistance equipment, especially if it’s taking place in a gym as opposed to an outdoor bootcamp.

Choosing the right bootcamp can seem overwhelming but when taking in to consideration all the pros and cons it should become quite clear which is the best decision.

The Truth About Low Fat Diets

Low fat diets in fact do not result in most people controlling their weight, the opposite is true.  The obesity rates for Americans has doubled in the last 20 years. In the 1960s, Americans ate 45% of their calories from fat – and only 13% of us were obese.  Currently most of us get only about 33% of our calories from fat but 34% of us qualify as obese!

This may be explained because people tend to replace fats with easily digested carbohydrates, or fat-free products that replace healthful fats with sugar and high-calorie, refined carbohydrates. fats are more filling, and can curb hunger, stopping one from indulging in unnessesary calories.

The point of dieting is to to cut overall calories to lose weight. While calories can be metabolized from either fats or carbohydrates, they are easily more available from carbohydrates.

Besides Weight loss concerns, the type of fat you consume is very important.  Reducing your intake of certain fats lowers the risk of several different chronic diseases, but other types of fats are essential to our health and well-being.
